If you've ever been out in the woods hiking or walking your dogs, you've undoubtedly heard the bows creak and leaves scrape the ground. It's a sure bet you've also heard the wind in the trees. This is all common and explained, but what of those times when there is no clear wind? It's the squirrels. That's been used so many times, but do you see a squirrel? Temperature change then. It must be the cold coming on.
I can remember many times when I've heard such a noise, and it wasn't all that hot or cold. It's just an average temperature day, but those trees are creaking. The branches are near breaking, and your dogs are staring off into the forest drawn to some smell way too low for a human to register. They know something you don't.
What about those times when you were sure that tree moved. You had a feeling it was watching you, but it's just a tree. Turn around. Is the tree different somehow? Just your paranoia I suppose. It's time the greater world learned about this very particular off-shoot cousin of the Yeti and Sasquatch family.

The Grassquatch
These are some rare takes of Grassquatches captured by amateur photographers. They've been since argued as pictures of humans in costumes, but no human has stepped forward claiming to be there in that forest on that given day. Are these men in suits or something else the world is hesitant to accept as possible?

Does the fact that there's no irrefutable proof as to the existence of something prove the animal or mammal does not exist? Or does that continued question of existence merely warrant further investigation?

This little known cousin is similar to the Sasquatch and Yeti in height, all three above average by human standards. Grassquatches can stand above seven or eight feet tall depending on their host region for available animals and berries for food. Grassquatches are by nature herbivores, but they will eat the odd rabbit or mouse. Birds have been known to be devoured by a hungry Grassquatch though birds have a clear height advantage with their given flight. The Grassquatch is notably and mainly vegetarian for the reason of concealment. Eating animals leaves a trail people can follow, and Grassquatches like their Sasquatch and Yeti kin naturally fear man. They've been watching us long enough to keep all possible distance.
Origins
The unfortunate fact is that it's impossible to give a clear date for origin. This specific species of Sasquatch holds its origins in legend and what's presumed to be myth, so any exact date or place of origin is quite unknown.
It is believed the Sasquatch came first. Like the Yeti of the north, the Grassquatch merely adapted to living in the forest setting. Over generations of pairing living amongst the evergreens and firs, the Grassquatch grew more naturally camouflaging body fur until today where a mature adult Grassquatch can go invisible in a forest. The first known reports date back to 1934 in the Yukon. A noted biologist, Charles Kamor, remarked on having seen a tree move, then, lumber off as he approached. Kamor raced after the tree only to trip. When he tried to follow, finding his feet again, Kamor found only forest. Returning to where he'd first seen the beast, there was only foliage and loosened lichen. He claimed to have found footprints that others later argued as fancy.
A decade later in 1944, a pair of hikers Percy and Margaret Chot were hiking in a Netherlands forest. This forest was mostly old oaks with the random maple. Colours were beginning to show, and ferns were about along the ground and snaking up many of the trees. They shared their account of the hike quite vividly in their personal notes at the time. Included in those notes is the sighting of a tree that turned as they passed. They kept walking glancing back when they were a safe distance off - only to find the tree gone. Where it had been was now empty, and the air smelled of a hurried run, a sudden hasty retreat.
It's likely the Grassquatch has gone unnoticed since before 1920 and J.W. Burns' work on that British Columbian Chehalis reservation, since before he took down and recorded the native stories regarding the large hairy creatures that lived in the woods. He took their names and gave them one of his own, Sasquatch. It's likely the Grassquatch was alive even then; only, the Sasquatch, also known my many as Big Foot, drew so much attention, the Grassquatch went unknown. I've no doubt it quite enjoyed that fact and still revels in it today. If this is true, the Grassquatch was around during the early days before Europe settled North America, back before 1700 even.
Was it a Grassquatch who was confused for an ogre? Is the Grassquatch the origin for that off-shoot myth? That would put this beast's origins back in Medieval times, from the 5th to the 15th centuries, when there were a lot more forests and far fewer towns and people to contend with. It's quite possible the fairytales of trolls living under bridges or stalking people over mossy hills are drawn from overactive imaginations, from a few related sightings of Grassquatches who were too slow to conceal themselves. As the Grassquatch would rather not harm any living soul, the legends they've inspired are far more dangerous than the real things.
Drawing the Grassquatch's place further back in history, it's possible they were on the first continent before it split in the slow continental drift that broke the one land apart, the same drift that created different continents ages past. That would date the Sasquatch line as one of the oldest mammals on record. It doesn't place them in one place then or today, but it gives some greater understanding of their place in time. With the drifting continents, the increased difference between Sasquatch, Yeti, and Grassquatch likely increased.

Habits
The Grassquatch is a reclusive animal. As such, most Grassquatches will never be captured on film. Their senses of hearing and smell are excellent, and they've had generations to learn how to watch and evade. They are as natural to the world's forests as the trees themselves. Most are never spotted as clearly as the three marked in the photographs above. Their habits, therefore, are difficult to isolate.
From evidence gathered amongst those who believe and accept in their existence, it's been figured they spend most of their time exploring. The rare bit of tread or beaten through brush suggests they wander, not only to avoid capture and tracking, but possibly also for the simple reason that they like to walk. They've been around a long time traveling, and it's not too far a leap to suggest the Grassquatch as a species simply doesn't know how to stop. Perhaps like human gypsies, they simply couldn't fathom living in one place for long.
Other observations suggest Grassquatches commune with nature. There've been smoothed tracks of land with unmistakable signs of sitting, but no human takes up such a large space to sit. A human interpretation would suggest the Grassquatch meditates in their own way becoming one with their current forest before moving on.

Favoured Habitats
Noted spottings are as far spread as India and Africa. Other claims cite Grassquatches wandering Ireland's northern coast and along the ridges throughout New Zealand, and yes, they've been rumoured to have made homes through the forests in Northern and Western Canada. As before mentioned, with the continental shift, the Grassquatch's given region was spread worldwide, and their gypsy spirits take them as far as their feet can carry them.
The Grassquatch adapts its body foliage to hide within its new climate and surrounding greenery when changing locations. This does take some time, days, maybe a week, but once enough time has been allowed, the Grassquatch can blend just as well with their new clime as they did in their previous setting.
As examples of well-hidden, properly camouflaged Grassquatches, I supply you with these four surrounding images. It's taken the most trained eye to spot the Grassquatch in each.

Avoid Eye Contact
This image, date and place unknown, shows what the average man will do when given a weapon and the chance to do harm. This is hardly the proper end to any animal or beast as old as a Big Foot or Sasquatch.
This is yet another example why it's important to keep armed vigilantes from your find. Grassquatches are not to be hunted and hung from trees or posts. They're not rabbits to carry around showing off your captured prey. They certainly aren't rugs for your den.

When meeting a Grassquatch, there are some important things to remember.
First, keep in mind that they're mostly harmless. Education and awareness is not intended to support violent action. There is no danger to man as Grassquatches fear them. This page and the information contained within is simply to educate so that when you spot one, when you become aware that you are not as alone in the forest as you once thought, that you will know what you are sensing. With this information, you might be able to catch a glimpse of a sight most people will never accept as real. You will know the truth. You won't likely get lucky enough to add to these rare photographs, but you'll know what you saw. So don't panic. Don't overreact and go running off screaming. Second, don't call in police and armed escort. The Grassquatch will have left the area by then anyway, and they'd just think you were crazy when they told you what you'd seen. Most importantly, the Grassquatch is not a zoo attraction. It's a piece of our history. It's a piece of our living history that should be respected, not trapped and caged, then, most likely dissected when the federal government gets involved. Third, you're not crazy. You're as sane as the person next to you. Don't let doubt and fear cripple your mind. Allow yourself to simply accept the truth that's right before your eyes. If anything, consider yourself lucky you have the chance to be present when a Grassquatch is near. There aren't many who can say the same. |
